Of cuteness and a World Leader

Does one's good looking trait help boost his potential to be the country's next leader?

Bemused? Have a look at some of these examples:

From left to right:

Pic 1: Tony Blair, former Britain PM, pic 2: Michael Howard, former Britain Shadow PM during Blair's tenure,

pic 3: US President elect for 2009 term Barack Obama, pic 4: Senator John McCain, Republican candidate for presidency who lost to Obama,

pic 5: Ousted Thai PM Somchai Wongsawat , and pic 6: Newly elected Thai PM Abhisit Vejjajiva.

There are many other examples which inludes Bill Clinton era and so on. It is debatable of course whether looks could actually influence the voting numbers but it may be one of the reasons they became a leader. What say you?

Hazyr,

MIght that imply the uglier the lady the higher position she gets? hehe...

Cute men and ugly ladies get voted into office always ...

... it just shows you how crucial women's votes are.

Hmmm... i never thought of associating politicians with their looks..

Pisces man,

Thats also what we do back in the UK on assessing a leader based on many things including his/her body languages and looks.

Age, looks do count of course! That's why Obama won..ha ha

Yes looks is an important asset. But it has to be coupled with a brilliant brain.

Brains + looks = charisma.....the likes of Clinton and Obama and Blair, Rudd....

Brain without the looks = Thatcher.

Looks without the brains = ?
Sarah Palin :)

Kak Ruby,

Good observation kak ruby! We need to study the voters' demography and the political "cadres" arent gonna waste their money and time on some old fart to run the country? Time for the more younger, more energetic leader to take on the world (they say)....

Madam Curi,

Yupp, your conviction is spot on. It works well in Hollywood and Bollywood too these days!

Nak tau, the 1st time I saw Abhisit posters gracing the street in bangkok a year ago, I already took a liking on him. Imagine what would it be to other educated Thai ladies? lets also not forget Tun Det, Anwar, Putin, JFK, Nicolas Sarkozy among others. Makes u wanna listen more to what they say while admiring their sharp looks!
