King Khan of Bollywood

We grew to like him in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge ( the good heart shall win the bride). Now, he follows a step closer to the Big Guy himself, Amitabh Bachchan (aka Big B) to be immortalised in a form of a wax statue at the world-famous london wax museum, Madame Tussauds. This man, Shah Rukh Khan (aka King Khan or SRK) has found his own niche to be the second hindi origin actor to be adorned by the visitors from around the world at the aforementioned wax museum.

With reference to the picture above, guess which is the fake one? I'd say, both of them are their very own alter ego. While Shah Rukh Khan claimed that he is very much a regular guy in the real life, his fans would still look at him as one of the highest paid actors in Bollywood.

It goes to show that great talents aren't such a waste even if you are not the best looking guy ever graced the Bollywood scenes. I had to admit that i did enjoy many of his movies. Those signature whizzing before laughing, that stutters when he tried to look cute, sleek back combing hair style, eyebrow arching, and those dimples....Lets hope that he'll keep on selecting a good role to maintain his box-office movie ratings and hence, his revered status as one of the living Bollywood legends.

D'uh, zewt, it's quite obvious which is the real one rite? Hehe..

Anyway, the waxed version looks older than the real him.

Still puzzled over why many Malaysians drool over Bollywood stars (not directing to you of course) to the extent that they are invited to Msia for their award ceremonies. So many news reports have said that they are a bunch of snobbish people. So, why are they still welcomed here?

Not sure tho' whether SRK is one of those 'high nose' (hidung tinggi).

Abdun ikan man,

Ye laa...when i see them bollywood actors in london, they got humble, but when they are at some country where they know they are much2 bigger, they got all over the top and arrogant. I think the msian organizers just want the profits despite their obnoxious attitude. And dont worry abdun, i am not SRK's big fan. I watch any good film regardless of who's in it, what langauge they speak and of which race and creed they belong to. But of course, i'd expect more from those good actors.

Hi Manal,

Yeah! It is easy to pick which is the real one from the skin colour and the garland..ha ha.

I have seen a few of his movies. After all when I was little I used to chaperone my late mum to see hindi movies, so I have had early training..ha ha.

India is a nation of many poor. It is the movies that give people reprieve form dire stress and hardship. Most Hindi movies are fashioned to have happy ever after endings, therefore Bollywood movies are a panacea for almost all ills, there and now here, as our people are stressed and are faced with a lot of hardships too these days, therefore they need SRK, to ease their pain! Thus is amazing popularity.

Kak ruby,

Spot on and beautifully said!

The escapism of a distressful life through movies...aint many of us do that even while watching some hollywood movies too? We'd like be saying, how i wish i was like this,or i wish i cud do that, or many2 more things inspired by the movies...or the very least, we felt good after watching those movies we like.

U know what kak ruby, if i am glued to watch a particular hindi movie, i'll listen attentively to the words they said coz i'm compelled to learn more sanskrit and arab words that they use in their language. I wud then relate it to my own malay and arabic vocabularies. And also some words that are now becoming part of the english usage like jungle. Nevermind the surrealism in their movies, but some of those hindi moviemakers are quite apt when it comes to adapting their stories into the silverscreen. Even titanic is rather hindi influenced.

Back to the subject matter here, I lurvvveee King Khan in all his movies especially da Kuch Kuch Hota He. When did his start calling London wax museum as his home ya, bcoz I was there last year Apr, he was not there yet… bummer… I miss getting close to him there…hehehe

Salam perkenalan to u too, nj!

Ummm...thanks for such a sheer adulation of a compliment. Thats the problem when u let ur heart rules over what u gonna say. Good thing that my mind concurs with the heart and the result is what u have read.

I love Kuch2 hota hay too. One of my fav hindi movies. The storylines are simple yet it does make u think that after 8 years, there're bound to be changes in one's appearance and the way one carries oneself that goes well with maturity yet time stands still where true love/feelings prevails.

Hopefully one day u'll be able to meet him in person.
