Kid at heart: Genting Highlands

18 years ago, I went to Genting Highlands on a , guess what: a school trip! We were clad in those white baju kurung, blue skirt, white shoes, sling or knapsack, and white tudung and we had a good time even though none of us took the rollercoaster ride. We got on bumper cars, ferris wheel, revolving cup and rides that didnt involve blowing our skirts up!

Yesterday, I went there again, for the second time of my life. This time, I had more fun, with great and loving company, great atmosphere and yea, i was gambolling around like a little girl. I had icecream, and sometimes i jumped, skipped to my delight. And I also sat on the steel railing while waiting for my turn to get on the ride, took the high-flying, merry go round swing called the spinner with much, much younger kids, went around sometimes in circle on that pedalo boat and had lotsa laughs. I remembered kak ruby wrote on the young at heart article (read here) and i must say that if there would be any of my students saw me like that in genting, they would either be telling themselves that our lecturer is one cool woman or maybe: hey, she is like no other lecturer we knew.

Even though genting highlands was pretty much normal to me, as i've been to bigger, more exciting rollercoasters like the one in Blackpool, UK, it was the cool weather and the ambiance that really makes me wanna stay there longer.

And to my guy, thank you babe for spending time with me. Kisses and hugs.

Kak Ruby,

Not only hang loose, but footloose too hehe....

It's been a while since i let myself loose like that and had a good laugh all around. If it's not for the good company, i wouldnt achieve such a liberating feelings.

L'amour...i dunno if i should call that as yet. Then again, it is always a sheer bliss knowing that I'm loved and cared for who I am.

ah, genting... that place with the theme park in the middle of nowhere.

it's not that cold anymore up there no? if it's rainy or cloudy, then it can be a bit cool. Otherwise, like the last time i was there, it was hot as hell,... (not that i know what hell fells like, hehehehe)

am going there myself next Monday. Taking my 2 nephews with me; one as a small reward for getting 5As in his UPSR (a bigger present already given), the other-- simply for being a younger brother to the one who'd be getting the reward.

Hope we'll have a good time like u did. Most importantly, hope I don't lose my patience with these 2kids.... :-)

"mak" Sue,

Eiiii.....best nyaaa baik tolll laa mak sue kita kan??!!! But why on monday?

Hmmm...it was rather cool i would say so...OK, it got a bit warm between 1.00pm to 3.00pm or so, when the sun is right up on our head, but after that it gets cooler, 20-24degC all around. So if u guys wanna spend the whole day there doing all the indoor and outdoor rides, you'd better bring along a jacket with u (or wear long sleeves top)and wear shoes instead of slippers/flipflop/sandals.

Owh, you'll definitely have the time of your life esp knowing that your nephews are gagging for it unless u r not that daring enough to try on some of the more 'adventurous' rides. I wish you a good weather, good mood and safe all around. And dont forget to warm yourself up with hot choc/caffe latte from either coffee bean or starbucks before u r heading back home!

There is always a child inside us irrespective of our age. This applies very much to me.Yesterday,I went to a bike shop looking for a new mountain bike, not for my sons but for me.
I am happy to note that you had a good time with someone who cares and loves you.

And that reminds me of the trip I talked a few times with my wife-to go up the Cameron Highland for tea at Bharat Tea plantation.

Berisman aka Pak Adib,

Ahaaa!!! Frolicking down Cameron Highlands and enjoying those hot scones on butter and a cuppa tea right next to the Bharat tea plantation...Thats like a surefire "mawaddah" (i.e. love bond in arabic) session for the two of u. Go ahead, pak adib, do it!

Mountain bike...U sure u gonna cycle around alone?

Uncle Lee,

Yeah, and i forgot on adding the "woohooooooo!" hollers part too...Its been a while since i let that little Manal out of me!

I've read those 2 stories, uncle lee, the moment u published them out. I just dont have anything "clever" to say yet i enjoyed reading them very much. U made me imagine all those characters/people , every scene, every moment and every location as if i am watching a movie in my mind.

Pisces dude,

Why shouldnt I? Not only did I get a "home" feeling walking around in a temperate area, but also at least i still find some of my pre-summer, summer and pre-autumn tops/collection useful in malaysia!

The good company shall remain as it is for the timebeing. I can only reveal the person if one day we become halal wedded husband and wife.

I wish I can bring out the little child in me all the time! It's such a relief to act like a kid. But trying to ignore 'the look' from people around that's a bit difficult! lol!
I'm glad that you had a great time in Genting. Hope you have many many more soon...

Linda,

Whether some "old" and "conventional" people got irritated by u or not is subjective. U r right that there are people who gets easily offended seeing some girls acting a bit gregarious and highspirited but thats how u act when u are in genting highlands. They are the ones who are in the wrong place.

Thanks linda for the kind wish. I hope so too!
